We provide research, extension and education that sustains the growth and economic vitality of agriculture and food systems through engagement with producers, students and communities.  To do so we:

  • Conduct agricultural, life sciences and food research focused on specialty crops leading to the development of innovative, integrated, cross-disciplinary solutions for sustainable food systems for the 21st century. 
  • Integrate new technological advancements and regulatory information relevant to specialty crops and food products, thereby enabling improved production practices, stimulating entrepreneurial activity, and strengthening workforce development.
  • Educate the future agriculture and food systems workforce and provide experiential learning opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students and local K-12 students.
